Dental bonding can be completed in just one visit to the dentist!
The first step in the dental bonding process is preparation. Unlike most other cosmetic dental procedures, dental bonding requires minimal advanced preparation. Anesthesia is often not necessary unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Our Ashburn dentist will use a shade guide to select a composite resin color that closely matches the color of your child's natural teeth.
During the bonding process, the surface of the tooth will be roughened slightly and a conditioning liquid applied. These procedures help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. Dr. Konz will then apply the tooth-colored resin, molding and smoothing it until it's the proper shape.
Once the resin is applied, Dr. Konz will use a special light to harden or "cure" the material. After the material hardens, he will further trim and shape it, then polish it until it matches the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface. The entire process usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.
Dental bonding is one of the most cost-effective dental treatments available. It is significantly less expensive than other cosmetic treatments like dental crowns or veneers, making it a great choice for families on a budget.
The dental bonding process is quick, often completed in just one appointment. As it requires minimal enamel removal, it's also generally a painless procedure, which is a big plus for younger patients.
Dental bonding can make a significant difference in the appearance of your child's teeth. Whether it's used to repair a decayed tooth, fill gaps, change the shape of a tooth, or improve discoloration, dental bonding can help your child feel more confident about their smile.
Dental bonding material is so versatile, it can even be used as a cosmetic alternative to silver fillings!
